(Playwright doesn't have to look like this)
Mike Fox is the playwright
and producer of 'The Object of My Obsession'. 'The Object of My Obsession' is a follow up to and spin off from his first play
'Telemonster'. Last year, he produced Telemonster at the Capital Fringe Festival with Christina Rojas as the
director. The show ran at the DC Arts Center. The cast included Stephanie Anderson, Tom Beck,
Bret Bement, Devin Rumer, Phil Amico, Kelly Potchak, Jenna Jones, Joseph Thornhill, and Belinda Fadelmola.
Mike Fox is a graduate from Clarion University of PA. in Clarion, PA. Mike not only learned about theatrical arts while earning his Speech, Communication & Theatre BA but he also learned about how radio used to be fun since he was able to embrace the freedom of college radio. He did a morning show on 91.7 WCUC FM for a year with his friend John Crawford and later a chronological rock history show called 'The Path' with the same co-host.
During his junior year in 2001, Mike went off to Washington DC for a summer
internship at XM Satellite Radio, which motivated him to later move to the area.
Things didn't work as planned but Mike did have enjoy having bit parts in two shows
(The Ritz and George Washington Slept Here) at the Little Theatre of Alexandria.
He also did a lot of stand up comedy open mikes, which he stopped doing because he finds the art of stand up to be very limiting. Mike had the opportunity to team up with Abe Johnson and Blake Grobe in a sketch comedy show called Comedy 6. In 2005, the trio cleaned house at least once a month at the DC Arts Center.
Not only did Mike act as several characters but he assisted in the writing process
as well.
Speaking of writing, in 2006, Mike Fox started up a newsletter called
Community Arts, which
promoted artists of the Washington DC Area. In February of 2007, Mike played Dirk
Winston in the Foundry Players production
of 'Mary, Mary' by Jean Kerr. In April of 2007, Mike was offered his first dramatic role
as Bert Cates in the Rockville Little Theatre production of 'Inherit the Wind' by Jerome
Lawrence and Robert Edwin Lee. After that run ended, Mike Fox was ready to get back
into comedy but this time, as a producer of his own play. The
Capital Fringe Festival was a great way of getting Telemonster off the ground. Hopefully,
2008 The Capital Fringe Festival will welcome a satisfied audience when they see the 'The Object of My Obsession'.
